Net Metering Systems

Net metering allows the household owners to use the Grid as if it were a big battery, by paying a small fee every 1 or 2 months (depending on the billing period) and receive the energy back when needed (during night-time or periods of low sun exposure within one year). 

EAC is measuring the energy flow from and to the building and every 2 months the customer must pay the balance if the balance is positive i.e. the owner had received more energy from the Grid than what their system fed to the Grid. 

The negative balance is carried forward to the next 2 month's bill as a credit on KWhs (unit measurement of Energy). A total of 12 months is the allowed period for usage of own produced energy. For this reason, the installation on each house must be of such size / installed PV power, that the yearly consumption of the house is almost the same as the yearly production of the installed PV system.

This scheme applies to individuals as well as legal entities. It covers installations on the roofs of legally developed buildings or even on the ground of the site in which the licenced structure exists. It applies to installations with power up to 10 KWp.

The appropriate installed power of the PV system requires meticulous examination of various parameters. The site must be reviewed to develop a customised installation design, identify the slope and orientation of the panels that will be installed and analyse the effect on production, inspect possible shadings that might occur, pinpoint the inverter’s location, estimate the necessary cabling etc.
